Sir Ian McKellen has recorded a ‘cover’ of a Taylor Swift song – but not as you know it.
The veteran rights activist and X-Men star opted to recite the star’s smash hit Bad Blood during an interview with Yahoo! Movies.
The actor, who is promoting his latest film Mr Holmes, recited a number of songs in his best theatrical monologue voice.
As well as ‘Bad Blood’, the actor took on Mark Ronson’s Uptown Funk.
In a separate interview, his X-Men colleague Patrick Stewart took up the challenge – reciting another popular Taylor Swift song, Blank Space.
The clips spread so fast that T-Swizzle herself weighed in, writing: “Thanks for reciting my lyrics, @IanMcKellen and @SirPatStew!
“You’ve made my day. You two are ULTIMATE Squad Goals.”
Sir Ian recently explained a series of popular ‘couple’ photos that saw him and Sir Patrick holding hands while visiting New York.
He explained: “Well, the image of those fun photos of Patrick and me – which were taken by his wife, Sunny – are of someone who seems to be enjoying themselves.
“What I thought was fun about Sunny’s idea to do those shots of Patrick and me, was at least they were taken by somebody who knew us; who knew what we would like to do. There was nothing that was forced. It wasn’t a PR idea. It was, but it was in family.”
