Christian movie makes mockery of homosexuality
A Christian drama’s pre-release has attracted the praise from religious and criticism from the LGBT community.
The film, which follows the struggle of a comedian trying to stick to The Bible’s verses on homosexuality, ranks a 3.1 out of 10 stars on IMDb – a review the executive producer blames on “LGBT activists.”
Producer and writer Ray Comfort said to Charisma News, a Christian news outlet: “This is the best thing that could have happened.
“It’s not even out yet and they are telling people not to watch it.
“That’s going to make them want to watch it to see how any movie could possibly be that bad; and they are going to get a shock when they see it.”
On June 24, the movie Audacity was pre-released online to viewers willing to pay $19.99.
Religious critics give it glowing commendations, possibly due to this social media post.
Alex Kendrick, the director and producer of other Christian movies, said: “’Audacity’ will force you to examine what you really believe about homosexuality.
“It will rock your assumptions…and challenge your faith in God.
“If you don’t know where you stand on the issue of gay marriage, you will after you watch this film.
“It’s a must-watch for everyone who wants to know the truth!”
Its “moral ranking” on the Christian Answers website classified it as “excellent,” but only gives it a three out of five stars in movie-making quality.
Some of the most popular reviews on IMDb only give it one out of 10 stars.
According to Charisma News, the producer does not believe these “atheists” actually watched the film, saying: “They would rather have a quadruple root-canal by a blind dentist than pay $19.99 to watch a Christian movie on this subject.”
Living Waters Publications, a self-described “evangelism resource,” sponsored the film’s production as its fifth Christian movie.
The Audacity’s official website states, in its synopsis: “Regardless of your views on homosexuality, you’ll gain fresh insights and a new perspective.”
Under the website’s video section, it includes a recorded interview with a transgender individual, entitled, “Bruce Jenner Is Not Alone.”
The website also contains Ray Comfort’s own writings on the Supreme Court ruling.
He said: “If I was at a wedding where someone was trying to enter into a marriage covenant that I knew was unlawful, as his friend, I would have to speak or forever hold my peace. . .
“If he was trying to marry a man, this is against the law, because it’s not the joining of one man and one woman as a symbol of Christ and His Church.
“It would merely be a legalized union between two men.
“Redefining this type of union as “marriage” would be like me declaring that my beige VW Beetle is a yellow Lamborghini. The two are nothing like each other.”
The film’s trailer features “street interviews” with several out lesbians and youth in support of same-sex marriage.
It will premier on YouTube on August 19.
