Did Saudi Arabia just fine a school for its rainbow colours?
An international school in Saudi Arabia has been fined for having rainbow colours painted on its building.
According to reports from the country, where homosexuality is punishably with imprisonment, flogging or death, the school was forced to remove the sign.
The police removed the sign, and the Talaee al-noor International School, was fined 100,000 riyals (£17,000).
A tweet from the ‘Saudi Community Agency’ claimed that the head of the school was also arrested, and held in custody until trial.
Images from before and after showed the rainbow colours on the outside of the school, and then a plain facade with the colours removed.
The rainbow flag is synonymous with the LGBT community and is often flown at Pride events around the globe.
