Police investigating violent assault on train after Brighton Pride
Police are investigating reports of a violent assault on a train from Brighton to London, following Pride on Saturday.
British Transport Police (BTP) is investigating a report of a violent assault on board a train between Brighton and Redhill, which took place shortly before midnight on Saturday, 1 August.
It is alleged two men used abusive and threatening language towards two other men on the train before the assault, which left one of the men, in his 50s, with injuries to his face.
Detectives say they are currently working to determine the full circumstances.
A BTP spokesman told PinkNews: “Violence on the train network is unacceptable, and passengers have every right to travel in a safe environment without fear of violence.
“This was a busy train and I am sure many people will have witnessed what happened and will be able to help our investigation.
“I would ask anyone with information about what took place to contact us.”
Police were investigating after reports on a blog claimed that the man, who was travelling with a group of friends, was punched unconscious in the unprovoked attack.
Photographs of two men also appeared on the blog, and were apparently handed to British Transport Police.
The exact circumstances of the attack are unclear.
