Police officer dismissed for homophobic and sexist comments
A police officer in London has been dismissed without notice for making homophobic and sexist remarks.
After being found guilty of 14 gross misconduct allegations, 47-year-old Mark Goodenough was dismissed from the Metropolitan Police, reports the Waltham Forest Guardian.
The police sergeant attached to Waltham Forest Borough, had faced 18 accusations of gross misconduct, and was accused of breaching the standards of professional behaviour relating to equality and diversity, authority, respect and courtesy.
The comments were made between August 2012, and December 2013.
Some of the sexist and homophobic comments were directed at, or made in the presence of colleagues.
He was found guilty of the 14 counts of gross misconduct, as the panel found that he had directed the slurs at his team.
PS Goodenough was dismissed with immediate effect.
