Rapper wears tutu and doesn’t give a f**k about your gender norms
In a recent magazine shoot, an American rapper modelled a sheer dress and tutu with complete self-assurance.
23-year-old Young Thug hails from Atlanta, Georgia, but, as a whole, is changing societyās perception of stereotypical masculinity and hip-hop.
In a recent interview with Dazed, he said: āMe and Travi$ Scott tour our s*** like a rodeo, so it isnāt about clothes.
āWe played 29 shows, and I brought, like, 32 Balmains.
āI switch clothes every set. He donāt.
āThat n**** wear the same shoes, boxers, pants, every f**kinā day.
āIām like, āBro. Hell no.
āIām a man. I have a girl.
āI have kids. My girl notice.āā
His most popular image from the photo-shoot portrays him in a sheer dress and tutu, but heās also noted wearing a plastic top, emblazoned with the phrase, āWarning: Explicit Beautyā.
With a style echoing Jaden Smithās, Young Thug incorporates a blatantly gender-fluid wardrobe with floral patterns, dresses and mini skirts.
An added bonus is the support heās getting from those noticing, including the respect of āKing of the Youthā Ian Connor.
The article, entitled, āYoung Thug: eccentric-in-chief,ā highlights at least one individual who opposes his fashion sense- his sister and head of his team, Amina.
The dread-locked rapper just carried on with his photo-shoot, dress and all, while Amina shouted at him in the background.
Some believe Young Thugās progressiveness stems from his home-town with its liberal attitudes and prominent LGBT community.
The rapper has had to address āgayā rumours before, but is pretty straightforward about his heterosexuality with six children and his fiancĆ©e, Jerrika Karlae.
He said: āI always felt like I was gonna be the man.
āI guess thatās why I became it.
āI always felt like I was gonna have money, even when I was young.
āIf itās something you want, you just keep going and strive for it.
āI always wanted this.ā
Other rappers, like A$AP Rocky and Lil B, have recently come forward about LGBT issues as well.
