Man charged with murder after Grindr hook-up ‘turned bad’
A Sergeant in the US Army has been charged with second-degree murder – after allegedly stabbing to death a man he met on Grindr.
According to police in Colorado Springs, Sean Crescentini was killed on Saturday during a confrontation with Fernando Rosales, 23, in a Grindr hook-up turned bad.
The Colorado Springs Gazette that the pair are thought to have met on gay hook-up app Grindr, but after meeting in person in Rosales’ home, their liaison turned violent.
As the two men began engaging in sex acts, Rosales told authorities that Crescentini began “saying things to demean him”.
When he broke off the sexual contact and started to dress, the soldier claims that Crescentini lunged at him, before punching him twice in the face.
Rosales tried to use iPhone voice assistant Siri to alert the police, but grabbed a kitchen knife when the call did not go through.
The newspaper reports that he waved the knife in the hope that Crescentini would leave, before allegedly stabbing him once.
When police arrived on the scene, Rosales was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder.
Rosales posted a $50,000 bond, and is due to appear in court on August 26.
