Foo Fighters ‘Rick Roll’ Westboro Baptist Church (VIDEO)
The band upstaged the homophobic church group with a impromptu performance of an 80s classic.
The Westboro Baptist Church were publicly trolled by the Foo Fighters recently when the band blasted out Rick Astley’s classic tune, ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’ amid one of the anti gay groups infamous protests.
The band decided to upstage the ‘Gods Hates Fags’ group with a bit of ‘Rick Rolling’ while they were protesting outside Sprint Centre, Kansas City.
For those unfamiliar with the term, ‘Rick Rolling’ involves surprising someone with Astley’s epically cheesy hit – which the Foo Fighters did, surrounded by hordes of cheering fans.
This isn’t the first time Dave Grohl and his bandmates have tackled Westboro Baptist Church head on – they also upstaged the anti-gay group back in 2011.
Earlier this year, JK Rowling also clashed with WBC – after the church read on PinkNews that the author had endorsed the marriage of her gay character, Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore and Gandalf, of Lord of the Rings.
Rowling responded to hateful tweets from WBC saying: “Alas, the sheer awesomeness of such a union in such a place would blow your tiny bigoted minds out of your thick sloping skulls.”
