Harry Styles dances around in Pride flag at One Direction concert
One Direction singer Harry Styles sparked cheers from fans, by running around on stage in a Pride flag.
At the band’s show in Buffalo, New York, the singer appeared to pull the flag from the audience during a performance of ‘Act My Age’ – wearing it as a cape before dancing around and waving the flag.
It’s unclear why Styles made the gesture by picking up the flag – but it’s been welcomed by from his legions of supporters.
However, perhaps they should be careful of reading too much into it – the star’s bandmate Louis Tomlinson targeted a reporter with a foul-mouthed Twitter tirade last year, after she questioned whether he was wearing a rainbow Apple shirt as a tribute to the company’s newly-out CEO Tim Cook.
He tweeted: “The fact that you work for such a ‘credible’ paper and you would talk such rubbish is laughable. I am in fact straight… F***ing ridiculous I even have to tweet that s**t!”
Styles has previously joked about rumours about his sexuality.
When the band were asked to name four traits they look for in a girl, Liam Payne was quick to say: “Female, it’s a good trait”.
Styles laughed, and added: “Not that important! Hey, don’t knock it ’til you try it.”
He also showed his support for gay NFL player Michael Sam by wearing a St Louis Rams jersey on stage last year – just days before Sam was cut by the team.
One Direction are rumoured to be breaking up after their current tour and commitments, going on a ‘break’ from next March.
