The Disney Store will no longer advertise the clothing range based on gender.

The entertainment giant will now simply present its 2015 Halloween costumes ā€œfor kidsā€ and ā€œfor babiesā€ ā€“ with this yearā€™s theme titled ā€œI Am Awesomeā€, reports The Mary Sue.

The move comes after the company was criticised in the past for stocking a lack of gender diverse clothing.

Last month, US retail giant Target announced that it was removing gender specific labelling from the toy sections of its stores.

Abi Bechtel, from Ohio, sparked a debate over sections for boys and girls, after she tweeted an image of a sign reading ā€œbuilding setsā€, and separately ā€œgirlsā€™ building setsā€.

Her tweet was retweeted and favourited hundreds of times ā€“ before she received a series of vile death threats from anti-gay protestors.

Target will now remove pink and blue paper which currently indicates gender on the walls of its toy shelves, and neutral wood panelling will be used.

The Disney Storeā€™s move to selling Halloween costumes ā€œfor kidsā€ was welcomed by LGBT family activists.

The news comes after a Disneyland store proved recently that there is nothing wrong with a boy liking Minnie Mouse.
