Hillary Clinton to give speech at major US LGBT rights group
Hillary Clinton is set to give a speech to the largest LGBT rights group in the US.
In October, the Democratic Presidential hopeful will speak at the Human Rights Campaign (HRC).
The former secretary of state will address around 800 activists and leaders who will attend Washington DC, for the HRC’s annual fundraiser.
Human Rights Campagn president, Chad Griffin, a former aide in Bill Clinton’s White House, said: “Secretary Clinton is a tremendous advocate for equality and has been a tireless champion for the advancement of LGBT rights as human rights around the globe.
“A visionary leader fighting for an America where everyone is treated with equal respect and dignity, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, we’re thrilled Secretary Clinton will join us to discuss the challenges ahead in the fight for full federal equality.”
The HRC has celebrated being part of some large LGBT rights victories, including the legalisation of equal marriage across the US.
Hillary Clinton has been a long time supporter of the organisation, and in 2013, on announcing that she had evolved on same-sex marriage, did so through the HRC.
Last year, Bill Clinton also addressed the HRC’s dinner.
