Trailer for ‘twisted’ gay surrogacy drama Nasty Baby released (VIDEO)
The trailer for Sebastián Silva’s twisted drama has been released.
Director Silva also stars in the film as one half of a gay couple that are trying to help their straight friend conceive.
Gay couple Freddy (Silva) and Mo (Tunde Adebimpe) are determined to have a baby with best friend Polly (Kristen Wiig).
Fertility issues cause complications, but the trio are determined to make their dreams of parenthood come true.
The films synopsis reads: “Freddy is an artist, and his latest work is all about babies – it’s clear he’s dying to be a father.
“Polly is a family practitioner who is more interested in having a baby than having a man.
“Mo is hesitant about the entire idea, especially when Polly isn’t having success with Freddy’s sperm and the donor responsibility shifts to him.”
However, what at first looks like familiar quirky indie fare quickly takes a dark turn…
Film makers have promised the film harbours a bizarre and horrific twist on the trope of “single straight female looking to get pregnant with the help of gay male friend.”
The film has already received rave reviews at the Sundance Film Festival and Outfest and is fast becoming a critical favourite.
‘Nasty Baby’ will be shown in the UK as part of this year’s BFI London Film Festival – which boasts a vast array of LGBT films to choose from, including ‘Carol’, starring Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara.
In Todd Haynes’ latest, Blanchett’s character – an older woman in 1950s New York – has an affair with a younger woman, who is played by Mara.
