Bake Off star reveals he is gay – and looking for a boyfriend
The Great British Bake Off’s Tamal Ray has revealed he is gay.
He’s won thousands of female admirers with his culinary prowess in the Bake Off tent.
However, series heartthrob Tamal Ray – one of four remaining bakers left in the 2015 series – has revealed that it’s actually a boyfriend he’s looking for.
The trainee anaesthetist discussed his new-found heartthrob status, telling The Radio Times he is indeed available at the moment.
And when asked about potential relationships he added: “I wouldn’t have a girlfriend. I would have a boyfriend, but I’m single at the moment.
“Although yes, I have had a few offers on Twitter!”
Discussing how taking part in the show has improved his confidence, he said: “It’s a great icebreaker.
“In the morning I see my patients on that day’s operating list, and talking about Bake Off helps with the tension a bit.”
“I didn’t think the consultants were particularly interested, but I made some muffins recently and they all went mad for them.”
He’s even inspired some competition in the workplace.
“At the end of my set of night shifts this week I’ve been asked to stay on during the day and judge a hospital Bake Off,” he says. “It’s the last thing I want to do, to be honest!”
Tamal will compete for a place in the Bake Off final on Wednesday night – along with fellow hopefuls Ian Cumming, Nadiya Hussain and Flora Shedden.
Sue Perkins has revealed she dated a man for more than six years, before she came out.
The Great British Bake Off host is currently in a relationship with fellow TV presenter, Secret Eaters host Anna Richardson.
However, Ms Perkins revealed in her new autobiography Spectacles that she has not always dated women – and spent six years in a relationship with a man.
She told the Telegraph that she spent six year with boyfriend Rob, after the pair met starring in a school theatre production together.
The pair broke up when Rob himself came out as gay, admitting to having slept with men while with Perkins.
