Gogglebox star Chris Steed is getting married… but not to Stephen
Chris Steed, a favourite on Channel 4’s Gogglebox, has got engaged… but not to his co-star Stephen.
The Brighton hairdresser couldn’t hide hide excitement and took to twitter to announce his engagement to Tony Butland, telling his followers: “It’s official… I can’t sing Beyoncé anymore.”
The tweet also included a picture of Christopher’s new engagement ring, which proved popular with his followers with one calling it a “stunning sparkler” and another saying: “blimey, check out that rock! **cries tears of ring envy**.”
He also revealed the romantic details of the proposal saying that his new fiancé took him to the top of the Eiffel Tower before proposing where Chris, of course, said yes.
Christopher and his on-screen sofa pal Stephen had begun the show as a couple but split up, claiming the pressures of the show were tough on their new relationship, and now remain good friends.
Stephen allayed any fears fans might have that he could be forced off the Gogglebox sofa, now that his on-screen partner is engaged, saying: “They can’t get rid of me lol.”
This is not the first Gogglebox engagement this week with Eve Woerdenweber, who dumped ‘silent Jay’ earlier this year, announcing her engagement to her new man Josh Smith, who proposed in Venice.
