TV preacher claims that gays want to jail Christians
Televangelist Pat Robertson has claimed that ‘gays’ want to persecute anyone who disagrees with them.
The host of the 700 Club, which has a large viewing audience throughout the US, is well known for his anti-LGBT stance – and this week he’s at it again.
Ranting on the show, he began: “The gays said we want rights, we want to be recognised… but they don’t want to stop there. What they want to do is persecute anybody who disagrees with them.
The 85 year old continued: “It is vindictive now. We’re not talking about having rights from the ‘poor oppressed gays’. We’re talking about taking away the freedoms of everybody who disagree with them.
“Do we want that in America? We’ve got to make a stand for these people. They’re being pilloried in the press, their being laughed at in the press because the press is in league with the gay rights people and they somehow think this is a civil rights issue.
“They better be careful with what they’re doing because they’re taking away the rights of everybody!
This is not the first time Pat Robertson has made outrageous comments about the LGBT community.
Earlier this year he told viewers to shun Christians who accept gay people.
He has also has said that teenagers look at gay magazines because they have been molested by gay people, and encouraged a mother to treat her gay son “like a drug addict.”
In 2013, he was awarded Bigot of the Year by Stonewall after his bizarre theory concerning the transmission of HIV between gay men.
