Presidential wannabe makes weirdest gay marriage comparison yet
Republican Presidential wannabe Ben Carson has made the weirdest comparison to same-sex marriage yet.
The 15 candidates vying for the Republican Presidential nomination appear to have been in a weird homophobic analogy contest for months.
Mike Huckabee thought he might have had it locked down when he claimed that letting gays meet the Pope is like having alcoholics at an open bar (no, us neither) – but Fox News pundit Dr Ben Carson is back with a vengeance and an even weirder comparison.
In his new book ‘A More Perfect Union’ the former neurosurgeon – somehow currently polling second behind Donald Trump – compared gay weddings to car seats for conjoined twins.
He wrote: “Laws and regulations should be designed to address normal situations while providing special mechanisms for the creation of exceptions in abnormal situations.
“Changing the law governing the normal situation in order to accommodate the abnormal situation is like requiring that car seats be designed to accommodate conjoined twins as well as anatomically normal children.
“The more sensible thing would be to require car seats to accommodate typical children and design special car seats for atypical children as needed.
“This principle can be applied to a host of situations in our nation.
“For example, most people are heterosexual, and changing the definition of marriage to suit those outside that definition is unnecessarily complicated.”
Presumably, he also believes that it isn’t worth installing wheelchair ramps because most people have two legs, or something.
Democratic National Committee spokesperson TJ Helmstetter said: “Today, Ben Carson has released a great summary of the entire Republican field’s talking points. Thanks Ben Carson!
“Our children’s freedom is threatened by abortion. Immigrant families should be deported. Gays shouldn’t be allowed to marry.
“We’ve heard it all before from the Republican field, and now we’re reading it in Ben Carson’s book. Carson, Trump, Bush, Fiorina, Rubio and the others – it’s no coincidence that they agree on so much.
“They would shut down the government to defund Planned Parenthood, and they’d all take our country backwards.”
Dr Carson’s views are unsurprising, however – he has previously claimed that prisons ‘prove’ being gay is a choice, and that same-sex marriage is a Marxist plot.
