Ezra Miller lands role in Harry Potter prequel ‘Fantastic Beasts’
Out actor Ezra Miller has landed a role in the new Harry Potter prequel.
Filming is currently underway on Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the first follow-up to the successful wizard film franchise – though much of the details are shrouded in mystery.
Though the ‘Fantastic Beasts’ film is set in the same universe as Harry Potter, it is not expected to be a direct prequel, instead following the adventures of wizarding author Newt Scamander (played by Eddie Redmayne) in 1920s New York.
The Oscar-winning ‘Danish Girl’ star will trade lipstick for a wand in the film – and Warner Bros has now confirmed that Ezra Miller will play a role, as the mysterious character Credence.
It was reported earlier this year he was in talks to play character ‘Kredan’ – but JK Rowling corrected the reports.
She tweeted: “Kredan is quite literally nobody. They got the name wrong!”
Nothing is yet known about the role played by the Perks of Being a Wallflower star, who came out as queer two years ago.
Miller opened up previously: “I’m queer. I have a lot of really wonderful friends who are of very different sexes and genders. I am very much in love with no one in particular.
“I’ve been trying to figure out relationships, you know? I don’t know if it’s responsible for kids of my age to be so aggressively pursuing monogamous binds, because I don’t think we’re ready for them.”
The actor Ezra Miller was also cast as superhero The Flash for an upcoming film.
