Ted Cruz claims that trans people are a ‘social experiment’
Presidential wannabe Ted Cruz has branded trans people a “social experiment”.
The Republican Presidential candidate made the comments at an Iowa campaign event, according to Washington Post, when asked about trans people serving in the military.
Senator Cruz, who also opposed gay people serving in the military until the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, appeared to just recycle his previous homophobic arguments as transphobic arguments.
He claimed: “How about having the military focusing on hunting down and killing the bad guys, instead of treating it as this crucible for social justice innovations.
“We’ve lost sight of what their job is and that’s what we need to get back to… we shouldn’t view the military as a cauldron for social experiments.”
His comments echo those of fellow Presidential wannabe Mike Huckabee, who claimed: “The military is not a social experiment. The purpose of the military is kill people and break things.”
Cruz, was one of four Republican Presidential candidates to have signed a pledge to void the marriages of thousands of loving same-sex couples.
He also recently branded Ellen Page a “liberal fascist” for asking him about LGBT rights.
The Juno star cornered the Presidential wannabe as he was flipping burgers for a campaign photo op, asking him about his opposition to equality.
Referring to her argument after, he added: “What we’re seeing right now is this liberal fascism and intolerance, where their object is to persecute, to punish, to fine any Bible-following Christian or believer that believes in the Biblical definition of marriage as the union of one man and one woman.”
