A 12-year-old feminist with two dads writes brilliant letter to favourite politician
Olivia also says that she wants to grow up in world where women are equal.
Hillary Clinton has shared a letter written to her by a young, feminist fan – who also has two dads.
The letter – published on the Presidential hopeful’s campaign website – lists the reasons why the young girl wants Clinton to win.
“My name is Olivia. I am twelve years old and have two dads,” she writes.
After telling Clinton about her ADHD, she goes onto to describe herself as “a feminist” who wants “equal rights for all women.”
She also offers to help out with Clinton’s campaign – before telling the 2016 frontrunner about her joy at the legalisation of same-sex marriage
“I bet I would be the youngest member of your campaign,” Olivia writes.
“I am huge fan of yours and hope, and I really hope you become president.
“By the way, I’m really glad that there is now gay marriage legal all around the whole 50 states of America!” she adds at the end of the letter – which you can see in full below.
Clinton was quick to respond to her young fan, telling her she joins “her dads in cheering you on for great success.”
“Thank you for writing to me; it put a smile on my face,” she said.
“Please know that I join your dads in cheering you on for great success.
“Keep up the great work, always care deeply about what you believe in, and never stop reaching for the stars!”
Last week, Clinton hit out at a Republican Presidential candidate who claimed that there is no need for laws outlawing homophobic workplace discrimination.
She was also challenged over her U-turn on same-sex marriage during the recent Democratic debate – asked if she would ‘say anything to get elected’.
“Over the course of my entire life, I have always fought for the same values and principles, but, like most human beings, including those of us who run for office – I do absorb new information. I do look at what’s happening in the world,” she answered.
“I have a range of views, but they are rooted in my values and my experience.
“And I don’t take a back seat to anyone when it comes to progressive experience and progressive commitment.”
