The CEO who priced AIDS drug at $750 a pill really can’t stop himself…
The CEO of a company which hiked the price of a drug used to treat AIDS-related illness, has made yet more foot-in-mouth comments.
Martin Shkreli, the 32-year-old founder and chief executive of Turing Pharmaceuticals, came under fire last month after buying the rights to 62-year-old drug Daraprim.
The drug costs less than $1 per tablet to make, and is used to treat conditions including AIDS-related toxoplasmosis.
He has since done an ‘Ask Me Anything’ on Reddit, answering a range of questions including on his sex life.
When asked about girls that want to date him, Shkreli said “get in line”.
Admitting that his PR team handled the press around the scandal “poorly”, Shkreli admitted being a “flippant jackass”.
Shkreli has vowed that Turing Pharmaceuticals would reduce the price of Daraprim, but has not yet done so.
A competitor has also announced that it will sell a Daraprim alternative for $1 a pill.
