This stunning model just became the first trans person to win Next Top Model
Loiza Lamers has become the first transgender person win a Next Top Model series.
The 20-year-old first entered the Dutch version of the popular fashion show, Holland’s Next Top Model, without disclosing her trans status – but later came out once she secured her place in the lineup, after rumours started circulating.
Seeing off a number of competitors, Miss Lamers vogued, sashayed, and posed her way to the final – and was revealed as the winner of the modelling show this week, after dominating the runway.
Global versions of the show have featured a number of trans people over the years, but she is the first to take the title.
She has since become an LGBT role model in Holland, according to a report in the Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad .
Miss Lamers told Algemeen Dagblad “When I announced that I was born a boy, I knew I would face attention.
“Luckily I received nothing but nice and sweet reactions to my participation from people. And anyone who took offence just walked circles around me.”
Miss Lamers walks away from the runway with a €50,000 modelling contract with Touché Models, and can count Perez Hilton as one of her fans, who called the win “a historic moment!”
The American version of the show is coming to an end in December after being on the air for 12 years, so there is very little chance of an openly transgender model building on Miss Lamers success.
