Man charged with attempted murder of train attack hero outside gay club
An arrest has been made, after a hero who stopped a terror attack was stabbed outside a gay club.
US Air Force Airman Spencer Stone 1st Class was one of the people who helped thwart a gunman on a French train in August, after the man opened fire on the Amsterdam to Paris Thalys service.
Last month, Stone was rushed to hospital after he was stabbed multiple times while leaving Badlands Dance Club in Sacramento, California.
The serviceman was bar hopping with three women and another man and had just left Badlands Dance Club when a confrontation occurred between him and another group, thought to be unrelated to the train incident.
This week, 28-year-old James Tran was arrested and charged with attempted murder over the attack on Stone.
Stone suffered lacerations to his heart and liver and a collapsed lung following the attack, and was in critical condition.
However, after weeks of medical treatment he is in a stable condition and slowly recovering.
The Sacramento Police Department said previously: “We firmly believe that this is not a terrorism related event and that it is in no way related to the incident that occurred in France.

“The assault does not appear to be a random act and is believed to be a nightlife related incident.”
