Superhero Deadpool will be ‘pansexual’ in upcoming film
The director of the new Deadpool film has confirmed the popular anti-hero is ‘pansexual’ – and he wants everyone to know it.
A film based on popular Marvel comics superhero is set for release in 2016, with Ryan Reynolds set to play the main role.
In an interview with Collider Tim Miller was asked if the new movie will feature a “hypersexualised” version of Deadpool, and the director responded “Pansexual! I want that quoted. Pansexual Deadpool.”
The comic book version of the character was confirmed not to be straight in 2013 by writer Gerry Duggan – responding to a fan question concerning Deadpool’s sexuality, saying that the character would “…do anything with a pulse”.
@JD_Boucher I didn’t write the annual, but I did wrote Deadpool NOW 11, and I consider DP to be ready & willing to do anything with a pulse.

Deadpool has referenced his sexuality many times in the years before and after Gerry Duggan’s disclosure.
Ryan Reynolds, who is portraying the popular ‘merc with a mouth’, also spoke about Deadpool’s sexuality, adding: “There is some sexuality in this movie for sure. You kinda think you have moments when you’re shooting where you think, ‘This is, uh, a little excessive. This is a comic book movie. Are we gonna get away with this?’
“But so far so good. Studio hasn’t crushed us with anything. They were here yesterday, they were thrilled, they saw some cut footage and so far so good.
The upcoming movie is being produced by 20th Century Fox, but will share a Universe with the X-Men films.
Marvel’s Cinematic Universe – which features Iron Man, Thor and Captain America – has recently featured its first gay characters – in TV series Jessica Jones and Agents of SHIELD.
Arrow star John Barrowman previously called for more gay superheros on TV.
Deadpool will be released worldwide in February 2016.
