Beautiful fairytale tells story of trans princess
An author has released a fairytale featuring a heartwarming story of a trans princess.
Greg McGoon has published ‘The Royal Heart’ which features the tale of a princess coming to terms with her gender identity.
The book, illustrated by J Orr, the book tells Lyric’s story, who is the child of a king and queen, but doesn’t identify as male.
Lyric worries that, having been brought up as a boy, she won’t be able to rule her kingdom as her parents hope she will.
After running away, Lyric meets the spirit of her late grandmother, who transforms her into the princess she knows she is.
She says: “This is who I am. This is who I’ve always been.
“In my heart, I knew I was not meant to be king. But maybe I can still be a leader.”
Beautiful.
