Caitlyn Jenner is still planning to vote Republican in 2016 ā€“ despite the partyā€™s opposition to transgender rights.

The former Olympian and reality TV star has been candid about her conservative views, explaining that she previously opposed same-sex marriage.

This week, Jenner revealed she still plans to vote for a Republican Presidential candidate, despite most of the contenders being staunch opponents of trans and LGB rights.

Speaking to the LA Times after the Democratic Presidential debate, she said: ā€œThey didnā€™t convince me.ā€

The frontrunners for the Republican nomination are currently billionaire Donald Trump and Dr Ben Carson ā€“ a former Fox News pundit who thinks gay weddings are a Marxist plot and never wants to pee next to a transgender person.

Carson called for the segregation of trans people earlier this month, saying: ā€œHow about we have a transgender bathroom?

ā€œIt is not fair for them to make everybody else uncomfortable. Itā€™s one of the things that I donā€™t particularly like about the [LGBT] movement.

ā€œI think everybody has equal rights, but Iā€™m not sure that anybody should have extra rightsā€”extra rights when it comes to redefining everything for everybody else and imposing your view on everybody else.ā€

Meanwhile, Trump has frequently referred to Jenner by her former name and gender, while Republicans recently opposed an LGBT rights law in Houston, Texas by claiming it lets ā€˜menā€™ in womenā€™s bathrooms.

Also in the field is Republican pundit Mike Huckabee ā€“ who earlier this year ā€˜jokedā€™ he wishes he were transgender in order to spy on teenage girls in the shower.
