Anti-gay Republican turns himself into a cartoon, but it looks more like Nick Jonas
Anti-gay Republican Ted Cruz has released a cartoon featuring a twinky, muscular version of himself that looks remarkably like Nick Jonas.
Cruz is one of the most notorious homophobes running for President, having repeatedly pledged to void all same-sex weddings through a Constitutional amendment, cancelling the marriages of thousands of gay and lesbian couples across the US.
The Republican previously branded actress Ellen Page a “liberal fascist” for asking him why he opposes LGBT rights – but recently appeared alongside a preacher who called for gays to be put to death.
Cruz refused to apologise for appearing with pastor Kevin Swanson at a rally, where Swanson shouted: “Yes, Leviticus calls for the death penalty for homosexuals! Yes, the Apostle Paul does say that homosexuals are worthy of death! His words, not mine, and [screaming] I AM NOT ASHAMED!”
This week, after calling for a one-on-one debate with President Obama, Cruz decided to spend his afternoon envisioning a burly, better looking version of himself.
The cartoon released on the candidate’s official website features Cruz wearing a tank top in a boxing ring, with an empty chair in the other corner.
However… it doesn’t really look much like Ted Cruz.
In fact, we’re struck by the similarity to everyone’s favourite Jonas brother, Nick Jonas.
Unlike Cruz, Jonas is a strong supporter of LGBT rights.
He’s also played a fighter once, in TV series Kingdom, so there’s that.
The actor and singer, who says he learnt to accept gay people aged eight, stepped in to ‘rescue’ an entire Pride event earlier this year – after rapper Iggy Azalea dropped out at short notice.
