Watch: This three-year-old genius outsmarted Ellen DeGeneres
Ellen DeGeneres was left speechless this week – when she met a three-year-old girl who has memorised the periodic table and US states.
The out talk show host introduced viewers on her daytime TV show to three-year-old Brielle, who showed off her incredible talent.
Ellen joked: “At 3 years old, this little girl knows elements like Xenon and Scandium. I thought those were reindeer.”
The toddler had managed to pick up all of the periodic table from education flash cards – being able to identify each element and describe some of its properties.
And in case you’re not feeling inadequate yet, she’s done all of it from pictures alone… because she’s only just getting to the age where she’s taught to read.
Brielle’s mum Kerry explained: “We actually got flash cards for her in April, so it’s been about six months. We hardly spent any time doing it – she can learn so quickly.”
As well as the periodic table, she can list all US states and their capitals, all countries in Europe and Africa, and all US presidents.
Her favourite President is Barack Obama, in case you’re wondering, “because he was President when I was born”.
Ellen added: “I have shoes that are older than you.”
Brielle sounds like she’d be the perfect addition to any pub quiz team – though obviously it’ll be 18 years until she’s old enough to drink.
