Confused about gender, sex and sexuality? This trans YouTuber can help
When Lewis Hancox came out as transgender, a lot of people asked him “are you sure you’re not just a butch lesbian?”
Now as an answer to that question, he has teamed up with All About Trans and Intersex UK to make a video that explains the differences between sex, gender and sexuality.
“I think the first step is to understand that your gender and sexuality are two separate things.” Hancox said.
“People often think that being transgender is a form of being gay, or a sexual orientation. And what’s often more baffling is that your sex and gender are also two different things!”
This is the second video he has made with All About Trans, an organisation that aims to improve transgender representation in the media.
“Comedy is my passion and by combining that with advice and education gives me the best of both worlds” Hancox said.
“My aim is for people of all identities to tune into my Youtube videos, whether they like the humour, the advice or simply like listening to my Northern accent ramble on!”
Hancox became known as one of the cast members of My Transsexual Summer in 2011 and has since then become a prominent transgender activist and video producer.
He has previously made a video sharing the ten kinds of reactions he got when he came out, and another answering questions about ‘trans guy sex’.
