Michelle Visage tells Azealia Banks to quit saying ‘faggot’
Ru Paul’s Drag Race judge Michelle Visage has blasted Azealia Banks for repeatedly using the phrase faggot.
Talking to The Gay UK the former Celebrity Big Brother contestant explained her views on Banks’ attitude towards the homophobic slur.
“All of my gay friends call each other the ‘F’ word.” Visage told The Gay UK.
“I don’t, and she being a female shouldn’t. It’s wrong and it’s offensive. If she were a gay man and said it with the same venom it would still be offensive.
“I wish her well but I don’t know what she’s doing with that attitude.”
Banks has been heavily criticised for her homophobic actions in the past. She was first criticised in 2013 when she told entertainment blogger Perez Hilton that he was a “messy faggot” who should kill himself.
Later she defended her comments, arguing that gay men are misogynistic and that if gay men can say ‘bitch’ then she should be able to say ‘faggot’.
Visage has also recently hit out at her former Celebrity Big Brother housemate Katie Hopkins, seemingly revoking Hopkins self proclaimed ‘gay icon’ status due to her views on Muslims.
Banks again criticised for a homophobic outburst against a flight attendant, where she was caught on video calling him a “f***ing faggot”.
In response to the criticism the rapper went on a bizare and vile rant on Instagram where she said she wanted to pepper spray a gay man in the face.
She subsequently labelled the LGBT community the ‘gay white KKK’.
