Rachel Dolezal is upset that people accept Caitlyn Jenner but not her
Rachel Dolezal, a white woman who claims she is black, is upset that Caitlyn Jenner is more accepted than she is.
Ms Dolezal – the former head of a branch of the NCAAP in Spokane, Washington – rose to fame when she was ‘unmasked’ as a white woman back in June, after her own family spoke out about her.
Her actions provoked outrage across the globe, with many accusing her of racism or claiming she is mentally ill.
The activist, who has also come out as bisexual, lamented in a Vice interview that people can accept that trans Olympian Caitlyn Jenner is female but can’t accept her as black
Vice wrote: “Rachel has been thinking about Caitlyn Jenner a lot.
“In June, the same month Caitlyn announced her name on the cover of Vanity Fair, local Spokane TV station KXLY outed Rachel… as the biological daughter of a Caucasian Christian couple.
“Whereas Glamour and ESPN awarded Caitlyn for her transition, Rachel was vilified and mocked in the press and on social media after telling Matt Lauer, in an interview on Today, that she’s transracial.”
“She was deemed a cultural appropriator by some; an impersonator—donning blackface when it was to her advantage—by others; and a race traitor by white supremacists.”
Dolezal told the outlet: “I’m the only person equally hated by the KKK and black feminists.”
Ms Dolezal is not the most popular figure – but she has won support from pop star Rihanna.
The singer explained: “I think she was a bit of a hero, because she kind of flipped on society a little bit.
“Is it such a horrible thing that she pretended to be black? Black is a great thing, and I think she legit changed people’s perspective a bit and woke people up.”
