Ezra Miller’s Flash ‘to debut’ in Batman V Superman
Ezra Miller is to reportedly make his debut as superhero The Flash in the upcoming film Batman V Superman.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower star, who came out as queer two years ago, was cast as the speedy superhero last year as part of a reported three-film deal.
The actor is set to appear in a 2018 solo film, while he could also appear in the long-awaited Justice League films ā but this week it has been reported that he will make his debut earlier than expected.
Costume designer Michael Wilkinson let slip that Millerās character will be one of a number of heroes to appear in next yearās much-hyped Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Wilkinson told reporters: āIām not really at the liberty to talk about The Flash right now, but itās something that youāll be seeing in the future in our films.
āYou do get a glimpse of him, of course, in āBatman v Supermanā.
āBut Iām really looking forward to taking the amazing, iconic costume for The Flash and interpreting it in a fresh way where Ezra Miller is playing The Flash.ā
His casting marks the first time that an LGBT actor has been given the lead role in a DC or Marvel superhero film ā though Sir Ian McKellen has a prominent role in 20th Century Foxās X-Men films.
A separate Flash TV series stars Grant Gustin ā though the two projects are entirely unrelated.
Miller opened up previously: āIām queer. I have a lot of really wonderful friends who are of very different sexes and genders. I am very much in love with no one in particular.
āIāve been trying to figure out relationships, you know? I donāt know if itās responsible for kids of my age to be so aggressively pursuing monogamous binds, because I donāt think weāre ready for them.ā
