Watch Ellen DeGeneres and Carrie Fisher sell Star Wars tickets dressed as Princess Leia
The TV host was joined by the Princess herself to sell tickets to the upcoming sci-fi epic.
Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres show today (December 14) to discuss reprising her iconic role as Princess-turned-General Leia.
The actress said that she was sure the films were going to be a huge success – even though the original films could have been “bigger.”
“I know this one’s going to do well, too, because I’m psychic,” she joked.
However, to ensure the film does indeed live up to the hype, Fisher joined DeGeneres on the streets of LA to give out tickets for opening night.
The pair stood heckling by the side of the road – holding signs and wearing Leia’s signature side buns.
“Carrie Fisher and stupid hair, again!” Fisher exclaimed.
The original idea was to swap the sought after tickets for cash that would then be given to charities.
The pair had agreed on a host of real charities to donate to – but Fisher decides to make up a series of imaginary ones on the spot.
By the end of the day, they’d given out tickets in exchange everything from sweatshirts to a headstand (executed while humming the Star Wars theme).
One lucky winner even got selfies with both Fisher and DeGeneres.
Game of Thrones star Gwendoline Christie recently praised the writing of her character in The Force Awakens.
She will play new villain Captain Phasma in the latest addition the much loved sci-fi saga.
As anticipation for the film reaches fever-pitch, the Brienne of Tarth actress discussed the film makers refreshing approach to her character.
“We are used to, in our media, connecting to female characters via the way that they look, from the way they are made flesh,” she pointed out.
“We are actually connecting to a female character as a human being.”
In September, Star Wars writer Chuck Wending issued an epic response to critics who were unhappy with the introduction of a major new gay character into the Star Wars universe.
