Gay footballer Michael Sam upsets everyone with MASSIVE Star Wars spoiler
Former NFL player Michael Sam is causing waves on Twitter – after tweeting a humongous spoiler for the new Star Wars film.
Sam became the first openly gay player in NFL history when he came out last year – and has since had brief spells with the NFL’s St Louis Rams, the Dallas Cowboys, and Canadian Football League’s Montreal Alouettes.
However, he crashed out of the sport over the summer citing mental health issues, and has since headed away from the spotlight.
The footballer still knows how to generate controversy, however – taking to Twitter after viewing new film Star Wars: The Force Awakens, to leak one of the main plot twists.
His tweet is blurred below, to avoid the wrath of sci fi fans.
However, after his tweet received hundreds of angry replies – the player took down his message and tweeted “#oops”.
Sam added: ” sorry about the spoiler alert. Didn’t ruin the entire movie”.
When asked whether he’s “taking a lot of heat for this tweet”, he replied: “you bet your ass I am”.
Quite right too.
The player previously demonstrated his epic love of sci-fi and fantasy when he decided to troll the paparazzi following him at an airport.
Discussing his rumoured wedding to Vito Cammisano – which has since been called off – Sam told paps he “plans on getting married in Westeros”.
He said: “I don’t really know where it is, but that’s where I want to go, that’s where Vito wants to go.
“Hopefully Danearys gets her ass there real soon, it’s been six books and she’s not in Westeros. Hopefully she gets there soon.”
Both Sam and Cammisano struggled to contain their laughter when the reporter asks: “Is this in Greece? It sounds like a Greek thing.”
