Anti-LGBT Republican Lindsey Graham ends Presidential bid
Republican Lindsey Graham has ended his Presidential bid, after failing to make any headway.
The United States Senator suspended his bid for the party’s 2016 nomination, after his campaign effectively flat-lined in the polls.
Graham – a strong opponent of LGBT rights who has never been married and has no children – has consistently denied rumours about his sexuality, after being branded “ambiguously gay” by a political opponent.
The Republican claimed he would rotate the position of First Lady between all his female friends and family members if he becomes President… but his campaign didn’t seem to impress voters.
He conceded today: “Today I’m suspending my campaign for President. I want to thank everyone who’s taken this journey with me.
“You’ve honoured me with your support. This has been a problem solvers campaign.
The Republican cited the number of other candidates who have adopted his key-issue position on war against ISIL (Daesh) as his reason for withdrawing.
He added: “I am suspending my campaign… but never my commitment to achieving security through strength for the American people.”
Responding to rumours about his sexuality on a previous occasion, Graham joked about whether he was having a secret affair with Ricky Martin.
He joked: “Maybe I’m having a clandestine affair with Ricky Martin. I know it’s really gonna upset a lot of gay men — I’m sure hundreds of ’em are gonna be jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge — but I ain’t available. I ain’t gay. Sorry.”
Despite running on a platform of military experience – Graham appeared unaware that trans people were still banned from service when questioned about the issue.
