This anti-gay church actually helped a pro-gay business to grow
One of the most vehemently anti-gay churches in the world will be pleased to know it is actually helping improve sales at a gay-owned company.
The Westboro Baptist Church has been thanked by the gay CEO of a cosmetics company for improving his company’s sales.
Ryan Zamo, the CEO of Z Skin Cosmetics, drove the Topeka-based church wild by posting a photo of himself outside their grounds kissing his fiancé.
After being shared by members of Westboro, the photo quickly became a trending topic on Instagram.
Zamo now says the shares and free publicity drummed up by the photo and the church’s attention have improved his sales.
“It really didn’t bother me that much. We thought it was actually funny that it was becoming so popular, but neither my fiancé nor I are the types to retaliate, it wasn’t anything to be up in arms about,” the 26-year-old said.
“We actually sent them a package with some of our Z Skin Cosmetics anti-aging, acne and hair products, after all they did drive massive sales for our site, it’s the least we could do,” Zamo went on.”
Of course, this isn’t the first time WBC has taken to social media to spread its beliefs.
After the Irish vote for same-sex marriage, JK Rowling tweeted her jubilation, before joking that Dumbledore and Gandalf could now get married in the country.
WBC responded to the author by threatening to picket the imaginary wedding.
“Alas, the sheer awesomeness of such a union in such a place would blow your tiny bigoted minds out of your thick sloping skulls”, Rowling crushingly responded.
The two wizards (in the form of paid actors) actually got married just across from the Westboro Baptist Church outside the Planting Peace and Equality House, which opened in 2013.
