Vladimir Putin rated least popular leader in the world
A new poll has found Vladimir Putin to be the least popular leader in the world.
The WIN/Gallup International poll found the Russian leader to be the least popular leader in the world.
He scored an astounding minus 51 points in the survey, which asked 64,000 people across 65 countries who their favourite leader is.
Higher up in the tally was British Prime Minister David Cameron, who came third worldwide.
He came second only to Barack Obama, and Angela Merkel, and was viewed positively by 37 percent of respondents.
28 percent of respondents said they thought Mr Cameron was unfavourable, and although he rated higher in China than President Obama, the latter is actually more popular in the UK.
After Mr Cameron is Frence President Francois Hollande, followed by Narendra Modi, the Indian Prime Minister.
Johnny Heald, managing director of ORB International which is part of the WIN/GIA network, said: “The UK still carries some weight around the world and together with the Queen, David Cameron is often the figurehead.
“Despite our contentious relationship with the EU, the Prime Minister is generally well regarded across Europe.
“He also performs well in North America but significantly less well than Chancellor Merkel and [France’s] President Hollande across the Middle East.”
