Salt Lake City has just got its first out gay mayor.
Former lawmaker in Utah, Jackie Biskupski, is to be sworn in as mayor of Salt Lake City on Monday.
Biskupski will take her oathat about midday on Monday.
She was the first lawmaker in the state of Utah in 1998, and now is the first gay mayor to hold the office in Salt Lake City.
After serving in the Utah House for thirteen years, Biskupski later worked in the County Sheriff’s office.
She won 52 percent of the vote, defeating incumbent mayor Ralph Becker.
