Ben Carson confronted by LGBT activist: ‘Do you think I chose to be gay?’ (VIDEO)
The Republican was confronted by an LGBT activist after making a series of homophobic comments during his presidential campaign.
Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson has been confronted by an LGBT activist during a campaign meeting.
The activist – who is yet to be identified – posed a “quick question” to the controversial former frontrunner during the meeting at a town hall in New York.
“I have a quick question,” they asked.
“Did I choose to be gay?”
“Did you choose to be gay?” Carson echoed, clearly thrown off by the question.
‘Yes, do you think I chose to be gay?’ the inquisitor clarified.
Unsurprisingly the former frontrunner – who is now fourth in the polls – failed to give a straight answer.
“That’s a long conversation,” he replied.
“I think you’re full of shit,” the activist quipped, before smiling and walking away.
Carson has a history of making anti-gay and transphobic comments in the past.
He has previously espoused a belief that same-sex marriage is a Marxist plot – as well as claiming that he doesn’t believe gay rights are civil rights.
Last year, Carson made headlines after saying that prisons prove being gay is “absolutely” a choice, and has compared homosexuality to bestiality and paedophilia.
