Kim Davis looked furious at Obama’s State of the Union address as he praised freedom to marry

Kim Davis was definitely not happy at last night’s State of the Union address, when Barack Obama praised equality in all 50 states.
The Democratic President delivered his final State of the Union address last night, before he leaves office in January 2017.
Obama invited a number of poignant guests, including equal marriage plaintiff Jim Obergefell – who fought the battle that led to equal marriage becoming a reality in all 50 states.
However, not all of the guests were so esteemed – the Republicans are believed to have invited Kentucky clerk Kim Davis, alongside her extremist Christian lawyer.
In case you doubted her stance on gay people, the clerk’s interesting choice of cardigan seemingly proves the absence of a fashion-conscious gay best friend in her life.
But she did not look happy through the speech – especially when President Obama praised the right to marry.
The President said: “Our unique strengths as a nation – our optimism and work ethic, our spirit of discovery and innovation, our diversity and commitment to the rule of law – these things give us everything we need to ensure prosperity and security for generations to come.
He added: “In fact, it’s that spirit that made the progress of these past seven years possible… it’s how we secured the freedom in every state to marry the person we love.”
The comments won applause from many in the audience – but not from the stony-faced Davis, nor her lawyer Mat Staver, who has previously compared Obama to the Nazis.
But the President continued: “Such progress is not inevitable. It is the result of choices we make together. And we face such choices right now.
“Will we respond to the changes of our time with fear, turning inward as a nation, and turning against each other as a people?
“Or will we face the future with confidence in who we are, what we stand for, and the incredible things we can do together?”
If that’s not a smack-down aimed at Team Davis, we don’t know what is.
Staver insisted: “I think when it became more clear that President Obama was going to tick off his so-called accomplishments in the last seven years, the decision was made to invite Kim Davis to be a visible reminder that his policies have not encompassed all of American citizens and, particularly, Kim Davis with respect to religious freedom and marriage.
“She’s there as a visible reminder of that, his policies have actually hurt religious freedom and marriage and to encourage people to stand for these values.”
