Harry Potter and Die Hard star Alan Rickman dies aged 69
Hollywood actor Alan Rickman has died, aged 69.
The Harry Potter and Die Hard actor died in London after a battle with cancer, his family confirmed today.
The actor was known for a multitude of roles and played Hans Gruber in Die Hard, a role he was offered two-days after arriving in Los Angeles, aged 41.
Rickman found a new fanbase after playing Professor Snape in the Harry Potter series of films.
He also played a lawyer in Dark Harbor who has a male lover, and the pair plot to kill his wife.
The star was also known for playing the sheriff of Nottingham in 1991’s Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.
As well as appearing on film, however, Rickman was well known for his work on stage.
The star graduated from Rada, and also directed several stage productions.
He met his wife Rima Horton, an economics lecturer, and they got together in 1965. They eventually married in 2012.
The actor’s agent confirmed his death today, and that he was surrounded by friends and family.
