Caitlyn Jenner hits back at Ricky Gervais over Golden Globes jibes
Caitlyn Jenner has hit back at Ricky Gervais after jokes he made at the Golden Globes.
The comedian hosted the Golden Globe awards earlier this week – but his comic routine during the event led to many people complaining online.
Gervais had joked: “I’ve changed. Well, not as much as Bruce Jenner, obviously – now Caitlyn Jenner.
He went on to reference Jenner’s driving ability, after she was involved in a car crash that killed one person and injured seven.
“What a year she’s had. She became a role model for trans people everywhere, showing great bravery in breaking down barriers and destroying stereotypes.
“She didn’t do a lot for women drivers, but you can’t do everything.”
Jenner hit back at the Television Critics Association tour in Pasadena, where she is promoting the new series of her reality show ‘I Am Cait’.
“On Ricky, I think what I’m gonna do is call the Golden Globes and see if they need a new host for next year,” she told reporters. “And we’ll solve that problem.”
She went on: “I’m only a spokesman for me and my story. I have so much to learn in this community.”
Gervais, who also at the Golden Globes mocked Roman Polanski over child sex abuse allegations and tore into actor Mel Gibson, has since defended the jokes.
