Watch: Caitlyn Jenner ‘shunned’ by trans friends over anti-gay marriage comments
Caitlyn Jenner has sparked a rift with her new transgender friends ā after she revealed her past opposition to same-sex marriage.
The first season of Jennerās reality show I Am Cait! featured a number of the former Olympianās transgender friends.
However, a trailer for the upcoming second season reveals that Jennerās conservative views have caused fiery conflicts with many of her friends.
The issue first came up on the Ellen DeGeneres Show last year ā where Jenner admitted that she used to oppose equal marriage, before publicly coming out as transgender.
Explaining that she had changed her mind on the issue, she said: āIf the word āmarriageā is really, really that important to you, I can go with it.ā
However, Ellen DeGeneres appeared to have been taken aback by the answer ā later telling SiriusXM host Howard Stern: āShe said āif the word marriage is that importantā ā¦and I was like, āit is, because thatās the word!ā. We want the same thing as everybody.ā
The new I Am Cait trailer suggests the comments did not go down well with many of Jennerās new friends either ā with Jenny Boylan challenging her.

Boylan explains: āI was a little bit hurt by your lukewarm support for same-sex marriage.ā
Jenner tried to explain: āI didnāt explain it as well as I should have, but I had like 30 seconds to think about it.ā
However, Boylan warns: āI hope you will recognise ā youāre a leader.ā
Elsewhere, Jenner is seen having a heated argument on her tour bus with a number of other friends on the issue, insisting āBarack Obama was against gay marriage, Hillary Clinton was against gay marriage.ā
One shouts back: āBut they changed their minds!ā
Some of Jennerās friends are then shown to have walked away from the argument.
The season is also likely to deal with other controversies stemming from Jennerās views.
The reality star came under fire last month for praying with a Houston pastor whose group aired a shocking ad depicting a little girl getting raped in a bid to stop an LGBT rights law.
The pairās meeting was filmed for the show ā though it is absent from the trailer.
In another incident in December, Jenner apologised after she said of other trans women: āIf youāre out there and, to be honest with you, if you look like a man in a dress, it makes people uncomfortable.ā
Many other trans women pointed out they did not have the benefit of Jennerās vast wealth and extensive medical procedures to help them transition.
