Donald Trump is a ‘racist homophobic misogynist’, UK Parliament hears
A Labour MP has slammed the homophobic, racist and misogynistic views of billionaire Donald Trump in a Parliamentary debate.
Parliament is today debating a petition calling for a ban on Mr Trump, who is currently leading the Republican Presidential field,
The billionaire has managed to spark fury during his campaign by targeting minority groups – and a petition to ban succeeded in forcing a debate in Parliament after claims police ‘fear for their lives’ in British cities because of Islam.
In the debate, Labour’s Tulip Siddiq raised the bans already placed on other figures who had sought to incite hatred with “strikingly similar” comments, under the Home Office guidelines.
She said: “Is legislation is in place, should it be applied equally, or are we going to be making exceptions for billionaire politicians? His words are clearly falling short of the Home Office guidance.

“We cannot exclude people because we don’t like them… but anti-Muslim hate crimes have increased in line with the rhetoric Donald Trump has been using. Hate crime is being inflamed by the words that Donald Trump is using.”
Labour MP Rupa Huq then spoke, adding: “Some of the things that people find repellent about this individual is not only he’s racist – he is homophobic and misogynistic as well.”
However, Tory MP Phillip Davies was among MPs to object to the petition.
He said: “I’ve heard the remarks Donald Trump makes made by a large number of my constituents, and whether I like that or not… what’s the difference?”
Trump has a mixed record on LGBT rights – shifting his opinion on same-sex marriage a number of times before conceding it is a “dead issue” following the Supreme Court ruling.
He has suggested in the past that he would support employment protections for gay people – but at the same time assured conservative lobbyists he wouldn’t block a bill that would allow discrimination against married gay couples.
