Ellen Page travels the world to fight homophobia in powerful new documentary (VIDEO)
The Oscar-nominated actress is joined by her best friend Ian Daniel for the new series.
Ellen Page has revealed the trailer for her new travel show Gaycation, in which she explores the issues facing LGBT communities around the world.
The Juno star is joined by her best friend Ian Daniel – who is also gay – for the Vice program.
In one scene from the show, Page – who came out in 2014 – confronts a policeman in Brazil, who has boasted about killing gay men.
“For me, they are worse than animals,” the policeman says.
“I think every pigsty must be cleaned up. If they cross my path, I’ll take of them.”
Page – who is clearly shaken by the comments – then checks to see if is safe to reveal her sexuality, before making a very brave move.
“We’re gay. And I’m wondering if you think it’s better for the world for us to be dead?” she asks him.
The openly gay actress later described the powerful encounter as “one of the more scary, nerve-wracking moments I’ve had.”
The pair also corner Presidential wannabe Ted Cruz as he was flips burgers for a campaign photo op at the Iowa State Fair – and proceed to grill him about his homophobic beliefs.
The X Men actress also attended a Pride event in Jamaica last August as part of the documentary – despite warnings that activists face vigilante violence.
