Man faints after seeing Russell Tovey strip off on stage
The play A View From the Bridge was briefly halted as male theatregoer was rushed to hospital.
A theatre fan says he is “mortified” after he fainted after actor Russell Tovey stripped off during the performance on Saturday (January 30).
A weekend performance of A View From the Bridge had to be temporarily halted – after Davin Cutchall fainted after Tovey’s character removed his shirt.
Fearing a heart attack, three audience members rushed to tend to the patient until emergency services arrived.
The show at the Lyceum Theatre resumed a few minutes after Cutchall was rushed to hospital.
A production spokesperson later confirmed the audience member – who had been seated in the stage seats, meaning he had collapsed onto the stage – had fainted.
Cutchall later tweeted a picture of himself in his hospital bed, as he apologised for “disturbing the performance.”
He reassured the cast and fellow audience members that he had not suffered a heart attack.
“Doctors and tests revealed I did not have a cardiac event,” he added.
“I was mortified when I came to.”
“Feeling much better. How can I just skip the ending of the play??”
Mr Cutchall added that he was a huge Tovey fan ad had driven six hours to watch the actor in the Arthur Miller’s classic.
Rather than waste his journey, a later tweet revealed that he had managed to catch Sunday’s matinee performance instead.
“Won’t forget this trip anytime soon. Thanks, New York!!” he tweeted yesterday.
