Donald Trump has apparently been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize
According to reports, Republican Presidential hopeful Donald Trump has been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize.
Vox reports that Trump has been nominated for the honour, but points out that thousands of people are nominated for the award each year.
His nomination follows others such as Russian President Vladimir Putin, former Soviet Union leader Joseph Stalin and U2 frontman Bono.
According a nomination letter for Trump, he should win the prize for his “vigorous peace through strength ideology, used as a threat weapon of deterrence against radical Islam, ISIS, nuclear Iran and Communist China.”
It has not been revealed who nominated the billionaire Republican Presidential hopeful.
But since announcing his candidacy for President last year he has made various controversial comments, including saying he would ban all Muslims from entering the US, and that Mexicans coming into America are “criminals, drug dealers, rapists, etc.”
A subdued Donald Trump was forced to admit defeat to rival Ted Cruz following the Iowa caucus this week.
Polls placed the businessman five points ahead of his rival, however it was the Texas senator who came out on top.
Trump – who recently ditched his support for same sex marriage – appeared before his supporters to thank them for their work – and to claim he would win in New Hampshire next week, before making a swift exit from Iowa.
