Sir Elton John is ‘phasing out’ his music career to spend time with his kids
Sir Elton John has said he is planning to āphase outā his career to spend more time with his family.
The singer made the announcement in an interview with BBC Radio 2ās Ken Bruce, ahead of the release of his new album Wonderful Crazy Night.
The singer, who recently celebrated his eleventh anniversary with husband and long-time partner David Furnish, said he plans to spend more time as a family with him and sons Zachary and Elijah.
He told the radio host: āItās all about the kids now ā everything is worked out around half term and when theyāre going to be in school, when theyāre out of school, and they are the most important things in my life. They take preference over everything.
āObviously I work ā but the work will get less and less and Iāll spend more time with my children growing up.
āAnd thatās what I want to do, Iāll gradually phase things out in a few years.ā
He added: āItās not forever but I want to see my kids grow up. I go all over the world. I just donāt want to tour so much.
āAt the moment, itās just about when the boys are out of school and how much we can spend with them.ā
However, the workaholic musician ā who has released 32 studio albums, four live albums and seven soundtracks across his career, still has a few big projects before he can step away entirely.
He said: āIām working on a musical, but I canāt tell you about that yetā¦ and then Iām working on another musical after.ā
