Anti-gay boxing champ Tyson Fury might quit and ‘sail into the sunset’
Anti-gay boxing champ Tyson Fury says he could quit the sport and “sail into the sunset”.
Heavyweight boxing champ Tyson Fury was controversially nominated for the BBC’s Sports ‘Personality’ award last year – despite his assersions that homosexuality and paedophilia will bring about the apocalypse.
The boxer has simultaneously stood by his comments and denied being homophobic – while also claiming that sex with children was legalised by a fictional ‘Gay Rights Act 1977‘.
He was cleared by his sport’s leading authority of all wrongdoing last month- but in an interview today, Fury suggested he may just quit the sport.
Speaking to 5 Live, he said: “I’m struggling to get motivated for more stuff… I already won 12 belts already.
“All that I would be boxing for is money and I always thought to myself I never want to let sport become about money.”
He added: “I’ve accomplished a dream. It’s about how much motivation I have to keep going on.
“There is life after boxing and I don’t know what I’m going to do at the moment. I haven’t even cemented I am going to fight in a rematch – it’s even if I want to go ahead and fight again.”
“I could walk away. I could just sail into the sunset unbeaten with all the belts and live a normal life.
“I haven’t decided yet.”
He continued: “If I win another 50 fights, it’s not going to mean as much… I believe I’ll be frozen in 2015 for the next 40 years, or however long I live for.
“Nothing’s going to outdo that achievement for me.”
Strangely, the BBC interviewer did not appear to ask about any of the controversy about Fury’s homophobia – just a week after he was cleared by a disciplinary.
