Steve Grand admits to using his good looks to get ahead (VIDEO)
The singer says he isn’t ashamed of using what he has to succeed.
Country singer Steve Grand has garnered a lot of press since releasing same-sex themed viral video for All-American Boy in 2013.
He has also received a unprecedented amount of his attention for his impressive physique – something which he only too aware of.
In a new video addressing his good looks, the singer admits that he is proud to use them to his advantage.
“F**k yes I’m using my looks to my advantage,” Grand says in the clip.
The singer explains that although he objects to every story about him focusing more on his image than the work he does, he is happy to use them to get ahead of the competition.
“It’s a competitive world out there. Are you not using everything that you have to better yourself and to make yourself as competitive as possible in this world?” he askes.
“If you’re not doing that, you’re not being very smart and you’re going to be left behind so use what you have.”
“I never asked not to be objectified – you can’t believe everything you read.”
The singer goes to accuse some of his critics within the gay community of a double standards.
“This whole idea that you can’t be an artist and someone who sometimes likes to show off their body,” he rants.
“You can think whatever you want about me and my music but that’s just awfully rich coming from mostly gay men – gay men who so often worship artists like Beyonce, Madonna and Britney.
“Our community seems to love to embrace beautiful, sexually empowered, liberated artists and songwriters who flaunt their bodies when they’re female yet roll their eyes up at gay men who do pretty much the same thing.”
Last summer, Grand hit out at those who ridiculed his choice of swimwear – after he was snapped wearing Speedos at a boat party.
He also won a host of new fans last year, after agreeing to attend the Marine Corps Ball following an online invite from gay service member Tanner White.
