David Bowie’s son throws cryptic dig at Lady Gaga following Grammys tribute
It seems not everybody was impressed with the singerās touching tributeā¦
Lady Gagaās tribute to David Bowie at this yearās Grammy Awards may have impressed audiences worldwide ā but it looks like it didnāt go down too well with Duncan Jones.
The pop iconās son sent out a cryptic ā yet stinging ā tweet following Gagaās much-praised performance in honour of his father.
Jones wrote on Twitter: āāoverexcited or irrational, typically as a result of infatuation or excessive enthusiasm; mentally confused.ā Damn it! What IS that word!?āā
The word he was looking for, of course, was āgagaā ā giving the exact Oxford English Dictionary definition of the term.
Gaga performed ten of the iconās hits from the 70s and early 80s ā including Space Oddity, Changes, Fame, Letās Dance and Heroes.
Gaga said paying tribute to Bowie was probably the most challenging thing sheās done in career, as she credited the star with shaping her identity as an individual and a performer.
āWhen I was 19 years old, I started to live my life like him. I began to consume art and fashion and art history and a combination of those things, performance technique,ā she said.
āI only hung out with people that were artists and that was the way that he was and I learned that from him.ā
āWhat Iām trying to say is thereās people that love David Bowie, and then thereās David Bowie fans, and thereās Bowie kids, who live like him,ā she added.
āI canāt express to you, I donāt know who Iād be if I didnāt have (him as) a figure in my life.
āI donāt know what my identity would be.ā
